Traffic Act (2021 Revision) In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 22 and 44 of the Traffic Act (2021 Revision), the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation and commencement (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, 2021. (2) These Regulations shall come into force on such date as may be appointed by Order made by the Cabinet. Amendment of regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations (2021 Revision) - fees for inspection, registration, licensing The Traffic Regulations (2021 Revision) are amended in regulation 27 as follows — (a) by repealing paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph — “(2) Subject to paragraph (6), the fees payable — (a) by persons who reside in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman; or (b) for vehicles that are located in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, shall be seventy-five per cent of the fees payable under paragraph (1).”; and (b) by repealing paragraph (6) and substituting the following paragraphs —
Regulation 2
“(6) Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2), the Cabinet may from time to time, waive or reduce any or all of the fees and duties set out in paragraphs (3) to (5) payable by, or in relation to, any of the following — (a) any person who resides in, or any group of persons who reside in, Cayman Brac or Little Cayman; (b) vehicles that are located in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman; or older persons in the Islands. (7) In accordance with paragraph (6)(c), the relevant fees set out in paragraphs (3) to (5) shall be reduced for older persons as follows — (a) a reduction of fifty per cent of fees payable for motor vehicle registration and licensing; (b) a reduction of fifty per cent of fees payable for an application for, and renewal of, a driver’s licence; and a reduction of thirty-three per cent of fees payable for motor vehicle registration plates, except that where the older person qualifies for the reduced fees under paragraph (2), the older person shall pay the lesser of the reduced fees. (8) In this regulation, “older person” means a person who is sixty-five years of age or older.”. Made in Cabinet the 4th day of May, 2021. Kim Bullings Clerk of the Cabinet
