Regulation General amendments to the Traffic Regulations (2022 Revision) - references to
Regulation 1
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22, 44, 106 and 142 of the Traffic Act (2023 Revision), the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, 2025. General amendments to the Traffic Regulations (2022 Revision) - references to “omnibus” The Traffic Regulations (2022 Revision), in these Regulations referred to as the “principal Regulations”, are amended by deleting the word “omnibus” wherever it appears and substituting the words “public bus”. Amendment of regulation 2 - forms The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 2 by repealing paragraph (4) and substituting the following paragraph — “(4) A driver’s licence may be issued — (a) in the form of a laminated plastic card measuring not more than 3.25 inches by 2.5 inches; or (b) by electronic means.”.

Amendment of regulation 3 - registration plates and vehicle licences (coupons) The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 3 by inserting after paragraph (2) the following paragraph — “(3) The registration plates of a vehicle — (a) shall be external facing; (b) shall not be obscured, defaced or otherwise illegible; shall not block a windshield of the vehicle or cover any of its indicators or lights; (d) shall be mounted in parallel with the vehicle’s axel; and (e) shall not reach above the vehicle’s beltline (that is, a horizontal line representing the bottom edge of the vehicle’s glass panels and the bottom of the vehicle’s greenhouse).”. Amendment of regulation 8 - driving test The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 8 as follows — (a) in paragraph (1) by inserting after subparagraph (a) the following subparagraph — “(aa) has sharpness of vision of at least 6/12 measured on the scale commonly referred to as the Snellen scale (with the aid of glasses or contact lenses, if worn, and using both eyes together);”; and (b) in paragraph (7) by deleting the words “under sections 28 and 29” and substituting the words “under section 29”. Amendment of regulation 24 - crash helmets The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 24 as follows — (a) in paragraph (1) by deleting the words “motorcycle, scooter or moped” and substituting the words “motorized vehicle”; and

(b) by inserting after paragraph (2) the following paragraph — “(3) In paragraph (1), a “motorized vehicle” means a motorcycle, scooter, moped or other similar vehicle that is motorized, regardless of its maximum speed.”.
